“This is the weirdest damn funeral I’ve ever been to.” Frank to Ben, Ilana, and Sun

With that, Ben apologizes to Locke as he John Locke is buried on the island that he loved. Ilana also let’s everyone know that TMIB is now stuck with Locke’s image as a body, presumably because it/he was in Locke’s form when Jacob died. But we know TMIB can still turn into Smokey and go scouring around the island (how cool was SmokeyCam???). And TMIB wants to get off the island, badly. After trying to convince Richard to help him, TMIB is distracted by an image of a young blond boy, presumably a young Jacob. Richard can’t see him, but TMIB can. Later, when TMIB is trying to convince Sawyer to join him, TMIB and the boy come face to face and discuss “the rules”…that TMIB can’t kill Sawyer.

That’s because his name is on the Candidate Wall. Jacob knew who potential candidates were to replace his standing on the island. There were 6 from Oceanic Airline and each had a number from the numbers:

4 - Locke (The MIB crosses his name off because he is dead)
8 - Reyes (That would be Hurley)
15 - Ford (which would be Sawyer)
16 - Jarrah (Sayid is in da house!)
23 - Shepard (Jack in the box!)
42 - Kwon (Even TMIB doesn’t know which one, Sun or Jin)

Now wait…didn’t Jacob also touch Kate when she was kid?? Yup! Where is her name?? Oh snap…Jacob doesn’t think a women can fill his shoes…where are all my Women Liberation crew???

TMIB gives Sawyer 3 choices:
1) Do nothing (pretty much die on the island like everyone else on the list)
2) Take over Jacob’s job
3) Go with TMIB and leave the island for good.

Sawyer chooses 3 with a big “Hell yes!”

In the flash-sideways, Locke’s life is actually pretty awesome. Helen and him are getting married, his relationship with his dad is top-notch…umm…what???…Helen had left him and his dad had stolen his kidney and thrown him out a window last time I checked…hmmm…you mean, the flash-sideways could be be a re-set in time from BEFORE the airline?? Seems so!

Now on to tonight….the big toudai I’ve been telling everyone…toudai is Japanese for the word “Lighthouse” (shout out to my friend Stacey who guessed it earlier)….

So we are going all over the island on tonight episode…at the Temple, Dogan’s actions toward Sayid gains some traction. Hurley goes on another journey and meets a familiar dead face, which makes him go on another journey with someone else from Oceanic 815. Sawyer runs into someone out in the jungle. Claire and Jin’s storyline progresses. Many season 1 items come back to light and may provide some color and answers for all the fans of the show, including an iconic location.

RANDOM QUESTION #1: Is 108 degrees an obtuse triangle?

The flash sideways will be about Jack tonight. Last we left him, he was arguing with Oceanic Airlines because the coffin has gone missing. Well, unfortunately for Jack, he must face mommy dearest about the situation. And look for another surprising connection in the flash-sideways. Also look for a popular Disney villain to be a clue about the timelines.

“Because it happened to your sister” - Dogan to Jack

So how did you like Kate’s flash-sideways? Some pretty cool stuff and again, it seems that certain things were always supposed to happen. Ethan was always supposed to look at Claire and Veronica was supposed to always be somewhere near Aaron (she was Kate’s nanny during the trial for Aaron in the flash-forwards, she’s a nurse at Ethan’s hospital).

Sawyer booked it out of the Temple with Kate and Jin in tow. Kate found Sawyer and Sawyer confessed that he was going to propose to Juliet. After an attack, Jin came face-to-face with a now “sickened/infected” Claire. Yay!! She didn’t die..but looks like TMIB/Smokie changed her. She is now like Danielle..and Dogan knows that is what Sayid will become. Dogan knows it because Sayid fails the torture test. Dogan tries to poison Sayid to kill him, but Jack ruins the plan.

In the flash-sideways, Dr. Artz went Midnight Cowboy on Kate and the cab. Also, Claire saved Kate by not saying the truth to the police. By the way, the cab driver is actually the guy from Heroes if he looked familiar to you.

So…tonight…”The Substitute”…

On the island, we head back to Ilana, Ben, Frank, and Sun back on the beach. TMIB continues his ruse as Locke, but TMIB needs more help…so what to do…what to do..oh yeah go for someone so heartbroken that they won’t see beyond what is in front of them. But as this is more about Flocke, we’ll find out what happens with John Locke in the flash-sideways. Last we saw, his knives were gone and Jack gave him his business card. What about his job at the box company? What about Helen? And a cross from Hurley’s flashback can throw a surprise twist into the mix. Will anyone be able to tell Locke “what to do”?? Is Locke’s fate the same as in the real timeline and death in his future?

So whether your plane crashed on the island, your boat exploded, or your helicopter was riding one too heavy..you’ll enjoy tonight’s episode. Toudai!!!!

“What happened?” - Sayid “LA X”

Over 15 million people watched the final season premiere of LOST on ABC on Tuesday. Many of them..you So let’s chat about some stuff.

Jack and Crew (2007)
So Juliet tells Miles from beyond the grave that “It worked” and that the LOSTies are back in their own time. But what it also means is that in 2004 a different set of circumstances happen to the people on 815. But before they can figure that out, Miles and Sawyer are captured by the Others and brought to the Temple. Speaking of the temple, we are introduced to Dogan, the leader of the Others at the temple, and his translator Lennon. Lennon is played by John Hawkes, who played Sol Star is “Deadwood”.

Few things:
- Lennon says that the spring is not clear (the water is actually brown)
- The Japanese was accurate from Dogan.
- Jacob’s symbol seems to be the ankh, which is how Dogan knew Hurley wasn’t lying.
- Sawyer told Kate that he wants Jack to suffer, not die.
- Lennon wanted to speak to Jack when Sayid woke up.
- Jacob says he died an hour ago.

Flocke and Crew (2007)
So Flocke is The Man In Black (TMIB) is the Smoke Monster who kills Bram and his guys when they enter the statue with Ben. Ben says “What are you” and Flocke responds back with “Who, not a what”. Flocke tells Ben about Locke’s final thought as he was killing him. Richard is knocked out after confront Flocke/TMIB outside of the statue. Flocke walks away with Richard telling everyone that he is very disappointed with them.

Few things:
- Ilana felt that she deserved to go into the statue because she was summonsed by Jacob.
- Flocke/MIB tells Bram that he is “free”, which leads Bram to know Jacob is dead.
- The flare from the Temple are seen.
- The Temple Others start spreading the black powder around the Temple. The same black powder is used by Bram to protect him from Smokey. It’s also the same powder that was surrounding Jacob’s cabin.
- Flocke/TMIB knows Richard and remarks he’s not wearing chains.

New Timeline (2004)
So it is clear some things are different in the new version of 2004, from the original timeline. Here is some clear differences:
- The island is now seen underwater, with the full statue and the DHARMA buildings.
- Cindy gives one bottle to Jack, not two (the second one he used for the wounds after the crash).
- The coffin disappeared, as does the knives.
- Desmond is on the plane!
- Kate is not interested in the contents of the case, because she leaves it behind.
- Rose is the calm one, Jack is the nervous one.
- Hurley has good luck and Mr. Cluck’s wasn’t hit by the meteorite.

So now we are up to “What Kate Does”. This is a take on Season 2’s episode title “What Kate Did”.

So tonight, Sayid’s resurrection plays a role as the LOSTies try to figure out what is going on. Sawyer makes a play, as does Dogan. You will be saying “Jack shut up!” sometime in the episode, as well. It’s a burning trait. Question is will Flocke be able to get around the black powder…is he even going to the Temple??? In the new timeline, Kate’s escape plan hits a snag when she hijacks Claire’s cab. In this new timeline, you might start seeing some more odd differences. It’s like playing detective,
dress-up, or even DOCTOR

Also, ABC announced that LOST will not be taking the Olympics off and will continue. Hold tight on that because things may change..you know I’ll keep you in the loop.

So one more week to go! So let’s review what happened in 1977 in the last episode.

Sawyer and his love triangle of women manage to get out of the submarine and end up running into Rose, Bernard, and Vincent on the beach. Rose and Bernard have given up being on the run and have retired in the cabin. Chaos is created at Othertown when Roger shoots Sayid after recognizing him as his son’s killer (not knowing Ben is safe with the others). Richard knocks out Eloise in the tunnels so she doesn’t continue with the men to detonate the bomb.

Hurley, Jin, and Miles manage to grab Jack and the now-wounded Sayid. As they race towards the Swan station, they get interrupted by Sawyer and his bevvy of beauties. Jack and Sawyer finally have it out and get into a bloody fistfight until Juliet sides with Jack. Ultimately they decide to needing to detonate the bomb because Juliet is doing it for her love.

When they get to the Swan, so does Phil and his DHARMAites. Radzinsky realizes something is wrong and forces Pierre to keep digging. The LOSTies stage their takeover and Sawyer grabs Phil. Pierre realizes the drill is now self-sufficient and cannot be stopped. Radzinsky knows they’ve found electromagnetism. Jack takes that opportunity to get the bomb into the hole. Reminiscent of when the Swan was destroyed in season 2’s finale, the sky goes an odd color and all the metal around the Swan begins to be sucked into the hole. Jack gets knocked out by a flying tool box, Pierre’s hand is shown being crushed by falling metal (that’s why his hand never moved in the Orientation videos!!) Miles then pulls his dad to safety and they run away. Radzinsky tries to get away but his car gets caught into the magnet. Phil sees Sawyer and is about to shoot him when a metal pipe goes straight into him. Juliet’s foot gets caught by a heavy chain being dragged into the hole and she heads in as Sawyer and Kate try to save her. Jack wakes up to try and help but Juliet falls down the shaft and lands in the muddy bottom next to the bomb. She grabs a rock and hits the bomb 8 (yup! A number ) times and it explodes turning our screens white!

Welcome to the 1st newsletter of the final season of “LOST”. I’m your host, GY, and until the show debuts on Tuesday February 2, 2010..I will be reminding you of what happened when we last left the show in May!!

Today, I want to walk you through the flashbacks. Next week we’ll discuss 1977. And on February 2nd I’ll remind everyone about 2007.

The episode, entitled “The Incident”, was primarily Jacob’s story. Jacob is played by Mark Pellegrino. Mark, who is an acting teacher, has appeared in films such as “The Big Lebowski” and “Mulholland Drive”. “Dexter” fans will remember him from season 1 of the show.

The episode begins in the 1800s with The Black Rock actually sailing! We are met with Jacob and his archenemy, who doesn’t have a name..the consensus is calling him “The Man In Black” ot TMIB for short. When the speak it becomes evident. The rules are that they can’t kill each other directly, but TMIB really wants to kill Jacob for some reason. Jacob is seen ageless, as Richard is.

Jacob is the seen as he meets our LOSTaways throughout their lifetimes and touching them:

Kate - She’s about to steal a lunch pail, when she gets caught. Jacob steps in to pay for the lunch pail and then touches her nose.
Sawyer - Is writing the letter to Sawyer at his parent’s grave when Jacob gives him a new pen to write with.
Sayid - Nadia’s death scene. She is hit by a car as Jacob touches Sayid’s shoulder.
John - Jacob seems to awaken John after his fall out of the window.
The Kwons - Jacob attends their wedding and shakes their hands in congratulations.
Jack - Jack’s “count to five” story from the first episode plays out. Jacob touches him when he hands him a candy bar that had been stuck in the machine.
Hurley - Hurley is being released from prison. Jacob tells Hurley about the Ajira flight and then leaves him with the guitar case (which we still don’t know what is in it).

There was also Jacob going to Ilana as she is wrapped up in bandages and speaks Russian and English to her when he asks for her help.

This condition would be memory loss for the genius.  And the only solution is mommie dearest sending him to the island knowing that she will kill him.  Such a sad tale as Eloise pushes her son to focus on math and science to hopefully one day correct her past indiscretions, but since whatever happened, happened Daniel still gets shot and killed.  But not before he tells Jack and Kate about his Variable theory that they MAY be able to change the past.  For that to happen they would need to blow up the hydrogen bomb, Jughead, which Eloise buried in 1954 somewhere on the island.

Over in DHARMAville, Jack/Kate/Daniel’s escape leads Radzinsky straight to Sawyer’s house where he discovers Phil tied up and gaged in the closet.  Sawyer and Juliet surrender to the men, while Hurley and Miles start their escape plan.  It is revealed that Penny is Daniel’s half sister, Charles Widmore is Daniel’s daddy!  Also, in 2008, Eloise visits Penny while she awaits word on Desmond’s surgery to remove the bullet that Ben put inside of him.  Desmond makes it out of surgery and reminds Penny he will not leave her.  Eloise pulls a Chris Brown and slaps Charles when confronted with the fact she sent Daniel to the island.

Other key things:
- Juliet is glad to help Kate leave by giving her the code to the sonic fence.
- Daniel gives young Charlotte his ominous warning.
- Daniel confronts Pierre with the truth: he’s from the future and he needs to evacuate the island.
- Miles denies being from the future or Pierre’s son when Daniel is trying to make his case.

And now on to tonight…”Follow The Leader”

With the finale next week looming, the best way to describe tonight’s episode is the lead up to the events in the finale.  It’s setting the stage, it’s placing people and events.  The name of tonight is appropriate as the groups form out and seek leadership on their next roles in the story.  In 2008, Locke will meet up with the Others and reclaim his role as their leader.  He will take them on a trek across the island.  For one it will mean hope, for another it may mean death.  Ben will have a hard time accepting Locke as his
superior, which may lead John to give Ben a fateful assignment.  In 1977, the fallout from Sawyer and Juliet’s deception will lead to a bargaining chip that could lead to something positive.  Meanwhile, Pierre and Eloise come to their own conclusions, which sets into motion two major events…two decisions that may cost everyone everything.  For one group it could mean salvation, for another it could mean rewriting history.  And anything can happen….
